Note: These rules are currently advisory and have not yet received the full backing of the MREPUBLIK Government. Full approval is required before they take official effect.
Article I: Creation of Towns & Cities
Section I: Requirements for Establishing a Town
- A town must have at least 5 active players to be officially recognized.
- The founder must submit a town charter that includes the name, governance structure, and general town size.
- The town must be at least 250 blocks from any existing town or 500 blocks from a city.
- A town must have a designated mayor and at least one other player in a leadership role.
- Once established, a town or city will receive a ‘Welcome to Town/City Name’ title screen when players enter.
- The town’s rough size and borders must receive MREPUBLIK Government approval.
- A town or city can bypass the required number of active players with special approval from the MREPUBLIK Government. This will be used to grant town or city rights to starter towns, cities, or admin-built towns and cities.
- Towns and cities must use either a vintage or modern architecture style or a mix of both.
Section II: Upgrading a Town to a City
- A town may apply for city status if it has 15 active players and has developed a minimum of:
- A town hall
- A marketplace with at least 5 vendor stalls or shops
- A public infrastructure system (roads, paths, or railways)
- At least 10 separate player-built structures
- The city’s rough size and borders must receive MREPUBLIK Government approval.
Article II: Governance of Towns & Cities
Section I: Leadership & Laws
- Towns must have a leadership system, which may be:
- Mayor Rule – One player has final authority.
- Council Rule – A group of players vote on decisions.
- Democratic Rule – All residents vote on major decisions.
- Town leaders may create local rules, but they may not contradict server-wide laws.
- A town or city may impose a resident tax, which must be clearly communicated to all members.
- PvP is not permitted within towns and cities.
Section II: Elections & Leadership Changes
- If a town follows a democratic or council-based rule, elections must be held every 2 months.
- If a mayor is inactive for 14 consecutive days, a vote may be held to replace them.
Article III: Expansion & Borders
Section I: Town & City Growth
- Towns and cities may expand naturally as they grow, but their rough size must be approved by the MREPUBLIK Government.
- Unused or abandoned land within a town or city may be reclaimed by the server.
- Towns and cities will be responsible for building and funding their own roads.
- Special infrastructure projects such as highways, railways, and airports may be adjusted and funded by the MREPUBLIK Government.
- Towns and cities must conform to road conformity standards, which can be found in the ‘Knowledge Hub’ under How-To.
Section II: Distancing & Borders
- Towns must be 250 blocks apart from each other.
- Cities must be 500 blocks apart.
- Towns & cities may agree on border expansions, but disputes must be resolved by MREPUBLIK Government.
- Towns and cities are not required to merge, but they must clearly mark where one ends and the other begins, including if that meets on a street.
Article IV: Merging & Disbanding
Section I: Merging of Towns
- Two or more towns may merge into one, provided:
- A majority of both town’s members agree.
- The new town’s borders are approved by MREPUBLIK Government.
- Merged towns must elect new leadership or retain an agreed-upon system.
- If two towns merge, they automatically receive city status regardless of previous population size.
Section II: Disbanding Towns & Cities
- A town is considered inactive if all members have been offline for 30 days.
- Inactive towns may be removed from the world or turned into ruins by server moderators.
- Players may petition to reclaim or restore an abandoned town.
Section III: Absorption of Wilderness Land
- As a town or city expands, previously unclaimed wilderness land that falls within city limits may be absorbed into the town or city’s jurisdiction.
- Existing landowners within the newly absorbed area must be informed of the town or city’s governance and building regulations.
- Towns and cities may request that buildings within the absorbed land conform to the town or city’s architectural style.
- Landowners in the absorbed area may appeal and request special exemptions from the MREPUBLIK Government to maintain their original structures.
Article V: Conflict Resolution
Section I: Land & Governance Disputes
- If towns have border disputes, they must attempt to negotiate first.
- If no agreement is reached, the MREPUBLIK Government will mediate and make a final decision.
